Educational Experience

 Social Presence

Social presence is related to the social situation of the learners in their distance learning environment. Learners can freely express their feelings and thoughts, easily make friends, feel more “sociable” and comfortable, taste the sense of togetherness, and also communicate comfortably with those around them in this learning environment. This situation turns the learner into a "real person" in the learning environment. This real person is in this environment with all his being.

Transactional Presence

Transactional presence relates to the connectedness with teachers, students and institutions. It gives the feeling of connecting to others in distance learning. This connecting feeling can occur between teacher and student, or student and student.

Cognitive Presence

Cognition is a basic characteristic of the learning event. Cognitive presence is an important learning experience where students can access information, comprehend it, think critically, create new ideas and share them with each other. It is a process of constructing knowledge through continuous reflection. Cognitive presence requires the active participation of the students in the course to ensure successful learning. It is also very important that they interact with each other cognitively.

Teaching Presence

Teaching presence is a teacher-driven educational experience. It includes the planning, forethought and what teachers do in the moment when interacting with the students. Teaching presence is a part of educational experience that deals with how the teacher designs the course, what he/she does during the course, how he/she conducts the course, what he/she does to facilitate the course for the students, and how he/she determines the direction of cognitive and social processes.
